Potty training

Zoë used her potty for the first time tonight - a matter of some excitement in our house! I guess that's what being a dad is all about.

We've been sitting her on her potty now'n again and encouraging her to tell us when she wants to have a wee or a poo. "Pooey pants" is what she usually says, after the event of course, no matter what she's done. Tonight though she said "Daddy, pooing!" I took her to her potty where she promptly stopped pooing and had a wee instead. Success! - of sorts.

We told Zoë how proud we were of her - she seemed pleased with herself too. So the Potty training message is getting home much more easily then I thought it would. I think the catalyst for this change was her visit, with Nino, to her friend Isabella's house this morning. Her mum, Maria, has just had another baby - Charlie - so Nino and Zoë were going to see how she and Charlie were doing.

Zoë and Isabella were playing when Isabella, on announcing she wanted a wee, went and sat on her potty. Nino told me that Zoë was fascinated and wanted to try it for herself when Isabella had finished. Fortunately Zoë was OK with Nino's suggestion they wait until they go home.

A great day inspite of bad weather.
It was a very rewarding day today. The day started well with Zo and myself visiting Maria and her 9 day old baby Charlie - and Zo seeing Isabella and playing with her. Went to Dave's office and had lunch with him and Suzanne, came home and Zo had a nap

Gaïa is just starting to use the potty on a more regular basis (every night before bed, usually number 1) but this morning she got up and sak to go potty. Number 2 happened! We cheered and clapped and danced... and I think it is a good way to go, really make a party out of it, they are more than willing to reproduce it afterwards.

Anyway, congratulations Zoë!
