It's strange, after not going out for so long I've been out three times in the last couple of weeks!
I took Nino and Zoë out for dinner on Valentines day to the 'Top house' in Dobcross it was a really nice evening and night. Nino has a great entry
'Valentines Day' on her blog. Zoë really enjoyed it too as you'll see from the photo. I think she feels quite at home, sat at the bar of a pub. I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing.
Here in the UK, there seems to be a quite unique drinking culture. Many people - of all ages - although it is always the young people that tend to hit the headlines, get slaughtered on Friday and Saturday night or travel abroad and behave like totally insane people for the whole time they're away. *
note to self: must be getting old .
Anyway, I blame the strange attitude to alcohol that we seem to have here. In France, for example, it's not uncommon for children to get wine mixed with water at dinner and I've never encountered the same kind of weekend binge drinking anywhere in France - or Spain, or Italy come to think of it. Maybe I'm doing a kind of 2+2=5 here, but I guess that being a dad - or a mum - means you have to think about these things, discuss them, and do what you think is best.
So hopefully Zoë will grow up seeing that having a drink can be a normal part of dining or of socialising that doesn't have to result in getting drunk, this will hopefully help her to develop a balanced attitude to drinking when she's older.
