No, this is not an entry about Zoë not letting me out of her sight, she's over that now

She does get a bit overexcited when I come home - but it is nice though that she's so pleased to see me. I'd say it's one of the best things about being a Dad.
Tonight before I took her up to bed she wanted a tour of the kitchen so I could tell her, or she could tell me, what all the things around the room were. What they were called, what they were for, what colour they were and anything else I could think of. She was great, really enthusiastically pointing to things and telling me that was a 'dol' (candle) and that was a 'tul' (kettle). Her ability to talk is improving by the day - and she really pushes herself hard with her books and her tours and her naming of all the things in the paintings and pictures around the walls at home everytime we pass them.
After we finally got upstairs and she'd cleaned her teeth, we were lying on the bed having a talk about the day and what tomorrow might bring. She was joining in by repeating words she recognized and occasionally pointing at something in the room and telling me what it was. To try and shut her up and get her in sleep mode I said "C'mon, I'll tell you a story before you have to go to sleep." Then intending to make up a story about a shadow. "Do you remember the shadow that Mummy showed you in the book yesterday?" And she said "Shad dow" - and said it everytime I did until she was saying it just right in her gentle little voice.
I was amazed that she'd made the change fom one syllable words to two so quickly. She's really starting to develop her own personality - and her improving ability to speak and communicate is helping her along. I wonder what's next? Maybe she'll start her own blog 'being a daughter' rather than 'being a dad'
